You can also use it to host Flash. <img src="/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" class="flag" alt="Smile" /><br /><a href="http://orand.blogspot.com/2008/10/live-mesh-flash-adobe-air.html" rel="nofollow">orand.blogspot.com/.../...esh-flash-adobe-air.html</a><br /><br />But based on hints I've found in the Live Framework bits, I'm guessing SL3 will add its own out-of-browser support in addition to the existing Mesh app support.

This is currently unusable as far as I'm concerned.
I don't understand how the team can call this '2.0', it's still alpha/beta - rushed, incomplete.
Again, how do you release a product where the fonts are BLURRY....argh.
Wake up

I think the Silverlight team cut some corners with the text glyph rendering. The performance with text glyphs was absolutely horrendous in Beta 1/Beta 2. Whatever they did now comes close to what Flash 9 can do, however they sacrificed in the visual department.<br /><br />I wrote a little about it in the GUIMark article:<br /><a href="https://silverlighthack.com/post/2008/10/21/Silveright-2-RTW-Performance-GUIMark.aspx" rel="nofollow">www.silverlighthack.com/.../...rmance-GUIMark.aspx</a>

Thanks for post!
Here are my hopes:
a) Easier data scenarios (CRUD, validation...) for building LOB data applications, datagrid improvements (some events are excluded in Silverlight 2, but was there in Beta2) and similar stuff (some WPF bindings options are missing).
b) More dlls should go into Silverlight 3 core (for instance, System.Data.Services, System.Windows.Controls, some of the Silverlight Toolkit controls...) so LOB application could be smaller for initial downloading or...
c) More dynamically and flexible including of external modules into existing application making it more modular and faster for initial downloading and downloading on demand features. This is possible with Silverlight 2 but only in certain basic scenarios.
d) Higher compression rate for XAP file included. Easier deployment.
e) Better text rendering.
f) Solving lots of ongoing problems in a real life applications, and getting more into best practices for doing some common things.
g) Silverlight 3 should truly be WPF subset making it easier to target both desktop and RIA applications.
h) Working outside of browser could be interesting in some applications.
i) Silverlight Mobile - Lots of hopes here <img src="/editors/tiny_mce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-smile.gif" class="flag" alt="Smile" />
j) Silverlight 2.5 for does who can't wait for Silverlight 3 major improvements ;)
Generally, I thing Silverlight 3 should be more ready for building complex RIA business applications.
Anyone knows something about Silverlight 3 (CTP, Betas, final...) release dates?

On my wish list is more easy development support in VS [so that we can get rid of Expression blend] and print capability.
